Overview

IPG8294 is a small molecule inhibitor of CD38 NADase being developed by Nanjing Immunophage Biotech. CD38 is a membrane-bound enzyme that serves as the primary degrader of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) in mammalian tissues. By inhibiting the NADase activity of CD38, IPG8294 increases intracellular NAD+ levels, thereby supporting mitochondrial function and cellular energy homeostasis. The drug is currently in Phase 1 clinical development for the treatment of neurological and mitochondrial disorders, including Alzheimer's disease and mitochondrial myopathy. It has received Orphan Drug Designation from the FDA for the treatment of mitochondrial myopathy, supported by preclinical data showing improved muscle endurance and elevated NAD+ levels in muscle tissue.
