Overview

IPH5201 is a human monoclonal antibody that specifically targets and blocks CD39, an extracellular membrane-bound enzyme expressed on tumor-infiltrating immune cells and stromal cells in various cancer types. CD39 degrades extracellular ATP into ADP and AMP, which are then further converted to adenosine by CD73. By inhibiting CD39, IPH5201 prevents the breakdown of immunostimulatory ATP and reduces the production of immunosuppressive adenosine in the tumor microenvironment. This blockade is intended to reduce immunosuppression and promote antitumor immune responses. The drug is being developed primarily for use in combination with other agents (notably durvalumab) as neoadjuvant and adjuvant therapy for resectable early-stage non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). It is also under investigation as monotherapy or in combination with other checkpoint inhibitors for advanced solid tumors[3][6][8][10].
