Overview

IPI-940 is an investigational, selective, orally available small-molecule inhibitor of fatty acid amide hydrolase (FAAH) that was originally developed by Infinity Pharmaceuticals and later licensed to FAAH Pharma and transitioned toward Purdue Pharma for further development in pain indications.[7][10][13][18][20] By inhibiting FAAH, IPI-940 is designed to increase endogenous levels of fatty acid amides such as anandamide, thereby enhancing endocannabinoid-mediated analgesic pathways for the treatment of neuropathic and other forms of pain.[7][10][20] Development activities have included IND-enabling work and early clinical evaluation focusing on safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics in pain populations, but the program has not progressed to late-stage clinical trials and its current status is pending.[1][4][7][10][18][20]
