Overview

IPM Wound Gel Bio is a topical wound healing biologic developed by GlycoBiosciences Inc. It contains 2.5% sodium hyaluronate derived from a bacterial fermentation process, formulated using a proprietary Ionic Polymer Matrix (IPM) technology. This technology combines negatively charged hyaluronic acid with non-ionic hydroxyethylcellulose to facilitate extracellular saturation and penetration. The gel functions by providing a hydrated extracellular matrix that maintains a moist wound environment, thereby promoting cell migration, moisture retention, and tissue repair. It is FDA 510(k) cleared for the management of various wounds, including diabetic foot ulcers, pressure ulcers, leg ulcers, and surgical incisions. Clinical evidence specifically supports its efficacy in healing incision lines following digit amputations in diabetic patients, with studies reporting high rates of complete healing within short timeframes.
