Drug intelligence / Profile preview
iPneucia (PCV13i) is a 13-valent pneumococcal polysaccharide conjugate vaccine developed by CanSino Biologics for the prevention of invasive pneumococcal infections, including pneumonia, meningitis, and bacteremia, particularly in infants and children. The vaccine targets 13 serotypes of *Streptococcus pneumoniae* (1, 3, 4, 5, 6A, 6B, 7F, 9V, 14, 18C, 19A, 19F, and 23F). It is the first pneumococcal conjugate vaccine in China to employ a dual-carrier protein system, utilizing both CRM197 (a non-toxic mutant of diphtheria toxin) and tetanus toxoid (TT). This approach is designed to induce T-cell dependent antibody responses, leading to high levels of specific antibodies and the generation of immune memory. iPneucia received approval from China's National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) in June 2025 and was launched in September 2025.
