Overview

IPOVAC is an inactivated poliovirus vaccine (IPV) developed by the Center for Research and Production of Vaccines and Biologicals (POLYVAC) in Vietnam, in collaboration with the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology (NIHE). It is a trivalent vaccine containing inactivated poliovirus serotypes 1, 2, and 3, produced using Japanese technology transfer. Developed as part of the global effort to transition from oral polio vaccines (OPV) to IPV to eliminate vaccine-derived poliovirus cases, IPOVAC is intended for the prevention of poliomyelitis. Clinical evaluation has focused on its safety and immunogenicity in infants, comparing various dosing regimens to established international standards.
