IPS-09001 is a preclinical small molecule candidate developed by InnoPharmaScreen for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease. It acts as a selective inhibitor of c-Abl (Tyrosine-protein kinase ABL1), a non-receptor tyrosine kinase that plays a critical role in cellular stress responses and protein homeostasis. In neurodegenerative conditions, c-Abl is often overactivated, leading to the phosphorylation and subsequent aggregation of pathogenic proteins such as alpha-synuclein and Tau, as well as the induction of neuroinflammation and oxidative stress. By inhibiting c-Abl, IPS-09001 aims to prevent protein misfolding, reduce neuroinflammatory signaling, and restore lysosomal degradation pathways, thereby offering a potential neuroprotective therapeutic strategy to slow or halt disease progression.
