iPSC-derived CD2-targeted CAR-T cells are a novel form of engineered cell therapy in which induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) are genetically modified to express a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) that specifically targets the CD2 molecule. The process begins with reprogramming donor somatic cells into iPSCs, which can then be expanded indefinitely and differentiated into T-cells. These T-cells are further engineered to express a synthetic CAR targeting the surface protein CD2, enabling them to recognize and kill target cells expressing this antigen. This approach allows for scalable "off-the-shelf" manufacturing of therapeutic T-cells with uniform properties and potentially reduced risk of immune rejection compared to conventional autologous or allogeneic approaches[5][4][2]. The technology is still in early development but holds promise for treating cancers or other diseases where targeting CD2-expressing cells is beneficial.
