Overview

iPSC-derived Th1 cells are T helper type 1 (Th1) lymphocytes generated from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). iPSCs are somatic cells reprogrammed to a pluripotent state, enabling them to differentiate into various cell types, including immune lineages such as T lymphocytes. The process involves directing iPSCs through hematopoietic and then T-cell differentiation pathways, followed by polarization toward the Th1 phenotype. These engineered immune effector cells can be used for immunotherapy applications, particularly in cancer and infectious diseases, due to their ability to produce interferon-gamma and mediate cellular immunity. The approach aims to provide an "off-the-shelf" source of functional Th1 T-cells for adoptive cell therapy[7][2]. Research is ongoing regarding their safety, efficacy, and scalability.
