IPT-002

IPT-002 is a therapeutic vaccine in preclinical development targeting envelope proteins of endogenous retroviruses (ERVs), specifically ERV-Env. It is being developed as an immunotherapy for cancer and potentially other diseases. The drug acts as an inhibitor of ERV envelope-derived genes, aiming to stimulate the immune system against cells expressing these antigens. Two companies have been associated with its development—IntelliStem Technologies and Hervolution ApS/HERVOLUTION Therapeutics—with indications including pancreatic cancer and prostate cancer, as well as prior exploration for infectious diseases such as Ebola hemorrhagic fever[1][3]. Its mechanism involves immunostimulation or inhibition of ERV envelope proteins to elicit anti-tumor or antiviral responses.
