Overview

IPX159 is a controlled-release oral formulation of a small-molecule drug that was developed by Impax Pharmaceuticals (now part of Amneal Pharmaceuticals) for the treatment of restless legs syndrome (RLS). The precise mechanism of action remains undefined, but it was described as having a unique mechanism in RLS. It is not considered a new molecular entity outside the US and has an established pharmacologic and safety profile for non-RLS uses elsewhere. Clinical development reached Phase 2 trials for RLS before being discontinued[1][2][5].
