Drug intelligence / Profile preview
IQP-AK-102 (Redusure) is a proprietary, patent-pending composition of three soluble dietary fibers: purified glucomannan (derived from the tuberous roots of *Amorphophallus konjac*), kappa-carrageenan, and xanthan gum. Developed by InQpharm, it is intended for weight management in overweight and obese individuals. The mechanism of action involves the synergistic interaction of these high-molecular-weight polysaccharides to form a thick, highly viscous, and indigestible gel structure in the stomach upon contact with water. This gel increases gastric distension and delays gastric emptying, thereby enhancing the sensation of satiety and reducing subsequent energy intake. Clinical studies, including a 12-week randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial (NCT01905956), have demonstrated that IQP-AK-102 supplementation, in conjunction with a mildly hypocaloric diet and regular physical activity, promotes significant reductions in body weight, body fat mass, and waist circumference compared to placebo.
