Overview

Ir-rhod is a mitochondria-targeted iridium complex coordinated with rhodamine, developed as an experimental anticancer agent. It is designed to overcome cisplatin resistance in cancer cells, particularly non-small cell lung cancer. The compound induces tumor cell death by disrupting mitochondrial function, triggering both apoptosis and ferroptosis pathways. Preclinical studies indicate that Ir-rhod’s targeting effect reduces systemic toxicity and enhances biosafety compared to non-targeted agents[6]. Its mechanism involves regulation of mitochondrial function and induction of regulated cell death processes.
