Overview

**IR103 HIV-1 antigen** is an investigational therapeutic HIV-1 vaccine developed by The Immune Response. It combines a whole-inactivated, gp120-depleted HIV-1 immunogen containing 10 micrograms per mL p24 antigen with the CpG oligodeoxynucleotide TLR9 agonist adjuvant Amplivax, also called HYB2055, in incomplete Freund's adjuvant. Rather than directly inhibiting viral replication like antiretroviral therapy, IR103 is intended to stimulate HIV-specific cellular immune responses, including CD4-positive and CD8-positive T-cell responses, to improve immunologic control of HIV-1 infection. It was evaluated in HIV-1-infected adults, including antiretroviral-naive participants in a Phase II Italian study and later Phase III development.
