Overview

**IR700-YP7** is an antibody–drug conjugate comprised of the hydrophilic phthalocyanine dye IR700 covalently linked to the monoclonal antibody YP7, which targets glypican-3 (GPC3), a cell surface protein highly expressed in hepatocellular carcinoma and certain other tumor types. The drug is designed for use in *near-infrared photoimmunotherapy (NIR-PIT)*, where following systemic administration and localization to GPC3-positive tumor cells, the IR700 chromophore is activated by exposure to NIR light (typically 690 nm). This activation triggers rapid necrotic cell death through photochemical and physical membrane disruption, predominantly at the target site, with minimal off-target toxicity due to the antibody’s specificity and IR700’s hydrophilic nature. IR700-YP7 has shown efficacy in preclinical models for selective tumor ablation and enhanced intratumoral nanodrug delivery.
