Overview

**IRay + ranibizumab** is a combination therapy consisting of stereotactic radiotherapy (using the IRay radiotherapy system) and intravitreal injections of ranibizumab, a monoclonal antibody fragment that inhibits vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A). The combination is used for treatment-naive neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD). IRay delivers a single dose of focused low-voltage X-rays to the macula, aiming to reduce inflammation and neovascular proliferation, while ranibizumab directly inhibits VEGF-A to suppress pathological angiogenesis and vascular leakage. Clinical studies indicate the combination results in improved visual outcomes, fewer injections, and drier macular results at 12 months compared to ranibizumab monotherapy[1][4].
