irbesartan + ciprofibrate

**Irbesartan + ciprofibrate** is a theoretical combination of two small molecule drugs: *irbesartan*, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) used to treat hypertension and diabetic nephropathy, and *ciprofibrate*, a fibric acid derivative used to lower lipid levels in the blood, primarily for the treatment of hyperlipidemia and hypertriglyceridemia. Irbesartan lowers blood pressure by selectively antagonizing the angiotensin II type 1 receptor, thereby preventing vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion. Ciprofibrate activates peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPARα), which leads to increased oxidation of fatty acids and decreases plasma triglycerides and, to a lesser extent, cholesterol levels. There is no evidence of a fixed-dose combination or branded product combining these two agents.
