Drug intelligence / Profile preview
IRDye 700DX is a near-infrared (NIR) phthalocyanine dye that functions as a highly flexible photosensitizer. It is primarily used in the development of photoimmunotherapy (PIT), where it is conjugated to monoclonal antibodies or other targeting molecules to form target-specific photosensitizer conjugates. Upon binding to target cells and subsequent activation with NIR light (typically at 690 nm), the dye induces rapid disruption of cell membrane integrity, leading to necrotic cell death. This mechanism enables selective destruction of targeted cells, such as tumor cells or regulatory T cells within tumors, while minimizing off-target effects. The technology has been developed for both research applications (e.g., imaging and detection) and therapeutic purposes in oncology, particularly for cancers like head and neck squamous cell carcinoma[5][7][8].
