IRDye800CW is a near-infrared (NIR) fluorescent dye with an excitation peak at 774 nm and an emission peak at 789 nm, widely utilized as an optical imaging agent in precision oncology. Developed by LI-COR Biosciences, it is designed for high sensitivity and low tissue autofluorescence, allowing for deep tissue penetration and high-contrast visualization. In clinical applications, IRDye800CW is typically conjugated to targeting moieties such as monoclonal antibodies (e.g., bevacizumab, cetuximab, nimotuzumab) or tumor-specific peptides. These conjugates enable real-time intraoperative visualization of malignant tissues, lymph node metastases, and surgical margins during fluorescence-guided surgery (FGS) and molecular fluorescence endoscopy. It has been extensively investigated across various indications, including colorectal, breast, esophageal, and brain cancers, to improve surgical outcomes and diagnostic accuracy.
