Overview

IRF1 siRNA is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to silence the expression of the Interferon Regulatory Factor 1 (IRF1) gene through RNA interference. In preclinical research, particularly in studies involving multiple myeloma, IRF1 siRNA is utilized to investigate the SLC7A11-IRF1-TXN signaling axis. IRF1 acts as a transcriptional repressor of Thioredoxin (TXN); therefore, its knockdown leads to increased TXN expression, which has been shown to protect cancer cells from ferroptosis. This agent is primarily used as a laboratory research tool to understand mechanisms of cell death and potential therapeutic targets in hematological malignancies.
