Overview

The IRF7 inhibitor is an siRNA-based drug candidate developed by Hamlet BioPharma (following its merger with SelectImmune Pharma) for the treatment of severe bacterial infections, including kidney infections and urosepsis. The drug utilizes small interfering RNA (siRNA) to knockdown the expression of Interferon Regulatory Factor 7 (IRF7), a transcription factor that plays a critical role in the destructive innate immune response triggered during severe infections. By inhibiting IRF7, the treatment aims to modulate the immune system and prevent the life-threatening inflammatory damage associated with sepsis. The program has demonstrated positive data in animal models and is currently in the preclinical development stage, with the company intending to advance it toward clinical studies for conditions such as urosepsis.
