Overview

**irinotecan-ChemoSeed** is CRISM Therapeutics' investigational, bioresorbable implant formulation that provides sustained, localized delivery of irinotecan into the glioblastoma resection margin following surgery. The implant uses a biocompatible biodegradable polymer matrix, including polylactic-co-glycolic acid, to bypass the blood-brain barrier and expose residual local tumour cells to irinotecan. ([crismtherapeutics.com](https://www.crismtherapeutics.com/chemoseed/)) Irinotecan is a camptothecin-derived topoisomerase I inhibitor whose active metabolite SN-38 stabilizes the topoisomerase I-DNA cleavage complex, preventing DNA-strand religation and producing replication-associated DNA damage. ([dailymed.nlm.nih.gov](https://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/getFile.cfm?setid=ee45f127-8450-4455-a945-a1f5707f1d39)) The product is being evaluated in a registration-grade Phase 2 study in surgically resectable glioblastoma.
