Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Irinotecan-eluting beads (DEBIRI) are a drug delivery system consisting of microspheres loaded with irinotecan for targeted treatment of liver tumors. The beads are administered via transarterial chemoembolization (TACE), delivering irinotecan directly to tumor sites while simultaneously blocking blood flow to the tumor. This approach provides higher local drug concentration, reduced systemic toxicity, and prolonged drug release compared to conventional systemic chemotherapy.
