This combination regimen consists of irinotecan hydrochloride liposome, S-1 (a multi-component fluoropyrimidine), and camrelizumab (an anti-PD-1 antibody). It is primarily being investigated by the Shandong Cancer Hospital and Institute as a second-line treatment for advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). Irinotecan liposome provides sustained release of a topoisomerase I inhibitor, while S-1 acts as an antimetabolite that inhibits thymidylate synthase. Camrelizumab serves as an immune checkpoint inhibitor, blocking the interaction between PD-1 and its ligands to restore T-cell activity against tumor cells. The combination aims to provide synergistic antitumor activity through both direct cytotoxicity and immune system activation.
