Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CPO-120 is a liposomal formulation of irinotecan, a topoisomerase I inhibitor, being developed by CONJ Biotherapeutics (also known as Conjupro Biotherapeutics). It is primarily targeted for the treatment of pancreatic cancer. The liposomal delivery system is designed to improve the pharmacokinetic profile and intratumoral concentration of irinotecan while potentially reducing systemic toxicity. Irinotecan itself is a prodrug that is converted to its active metabolite, SN-38, which binds to the topoisomerase I-DNA complex, preventing DNA religation and leading to double-strand DNA breaks and cell death. CPO-120 is currently in the Pre-NDA/ANDA or NDA/BLA filing stage, indicating that it has likely completed Phase 3 clinical development.
