Irisflorentin is a naturally occurring isoflavone compound derived from the roots of *Belamcanda chinensis* (L.) DC., a plant used in traditional Chinese medicine. It has the molecular formula C₂₀H₁₈O₈ and molecular weight of 386.35 g/mol. The compound exhibits multiple pharmacological activities including immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, and neuroprotective effects. Its mechanism involves modulation of dendritic cell properties through inhibition of NF-κB and MAPK signaling pathways (specifically IKK, JNK, and p38), reduction of proinflammatory cytokine production (TNF-α, IL-6, IL-12p70), and downregulation of costimulatory molecules (CD40, CD86) and MHC class II expression. In Parkinson's disease models, irisflorentin reduces α-synuclein accumulation by enhancing proteasome activity through upregulation of the proteasome regulatory subunit rpn-3. It also demonstrates protective effects against dopaminergic neuronal degeneration and reduces nitric oxide production by inhibiting inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) expression in activated macrophages.
