Overview

IRL1117 is an orally available and potent dopamine D1 receptor and dopamine D2 receptor agonist developed as a once-daily oral treatment for the hallmark symptoms of Parkinson’s disease, including tremor, rigidity, and slowness of movement. Unlike current mainstay treatments such as levodopa, which are associated with short duration of action and troublesome complications like dyskinesia after long-term use, IRL1117 has demonstrated rapid onset and more than 10 hours of sustained efficacy in preclinical studies without inducing these complications. The drug is being developed by IRLAB Therapeutics as part of their P003 project to provide improved efficacy on core motor symptoms while avoiding the limitations seen with existing therapies. As of early 2025, IRL1117 remains in preclinical development with plans to initiate Phase I clinical trials[1][2][3][4][5][6].
