IRL757 is a first-in-class small molecule drug candidate developed by IRLAB Therapeutics for the treatment of apathy in Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, and other neurological conditions. Apathy, characterized by a lack of motivation and interest, is a common and debilitating symptom of various CNS disorders for which there are currently no approved treatments. The development of IRL757 is supported by a collaboration with the McQuade Center for Strategic Research and Development (MSRD), a part of the Otsuka pharmaceutical group, which provides funding through clinical proof-of-concept studies. The program has also received validation and financial support from The Michael J. Fox Foundation. IRL757 entered Phase I clinical trials in 2024, with subsequent Phase Ib signal-finding studies planned to evaluate its safety, tolerability, and efficacy in patients.
