Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This combination product by G.L. Pharma is designed for the treatment and prevention of iron and folate deficiency anemias. It contains iron (typically as ferrous fumarate), which is a critical component of hemoglobin for oxygen transport; folic acid (vitamin B9), which is essential for DNA synthesis and the maturation of red blood cells; and ascorbic acid (vitamin C), which acts as a reducing agent to enhance the intestinal absorption of iron by maintaining it in the more soluble ferrous (Fe2+) state. This triple combination is particularly indicated for pregnancy-related anemia prophylaxis, where requirements for both iron and folate are significantly increased to support fetal development and maternal blood volume expansion.
