Irradiated allogeneic blood mononuclear cells are a form of adoptive cell therapy used as an antineoplastic agent. These cells, typically peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) obtained from partially HLA-matched relatives, are irradiated prior to infusion to prevent graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) while retaining their ability to induce an allogeneic immune response against the patient's malignancy. This approach is investigated for patients with relapsed or refractory solid tumors, such as metastatic renal cell carcinoma and melanoma, who have failed standard therapies. The therapy aims to leverage the graft-versus-tumor effect without the need for a full hematopoietic stem-cell transplantation.
