Overview

Irradiated donor lymphocyte infusion (DLI) is an experimental adoptive cell therapy developed by Seoul National University Hospital for the treatment of metastatic malignant melanoma and renal cell carcinoma. In this approach, partially HLA-matched donor lymphocytes are irradiated prior to infusion to prevent their proliferation and the subsequent development of graft-versus-host disease (GvHD), while still allowing the cells to exert a transient anti-tumor effect. In clinical trials, this therapy is evaluated in combination with high-dose interleukin-2 (IL-2) to enhance the activation and expansion of the infused donor cells and the patient's endogenous immune system, aiming for a synergistic anti-tumor response in patients with advanced solid tumors.
