isatuximab

Isatuximab is a humanized IgG1 monoclonal antibody that targets CD38, a glycoprotein highly expressed on malignant plasma cells in multiple myeloma. By binding to CD38, isatuximab induces direct apoptosis of cancer cells and activates several immune-mediated mechanisms including antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC), antibody-dependent cellular phagocytosis (ADCP), and complement-dependent cytotoxicity (CDC). It also inhibits the ectoenzymatic activity of CD38, reducing immunosuppressive adenosine production. Isatuximab is approved for use in combination with other agents such as pomalidomide or carfilzomib plus dexamethasone for adults with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma who have received at least two prior therapies. The drug was developed by Sanofi.
