Iscador M

ISCADOR M is a fermented aqueous extract of European mistletoe (Viscum album L.) grown on apple trees (Malus domestica). [4] It is developed and marketed by Iscador AG as an anthroposophic medicine. [1, 7] The active components are a complex mixture of substances, with mistletoe lectins and viscotoxins being the most studied bioactive components. [2, 3] ISCADOR M is used as a complementary therapy in oncology for various malignancies, including breast cancer, melanoma, and colorectal cancer. [14] It is administered via subcutaneous injection and is believed to exert its effects through immunomodulation, such as stimulating various immune cells (e.g., T cells, NK cells), and by direct cytotoxicity, including the induction of apoptosis in cancer cells. [2, 3, 9] The product is part of a series of Iscador preparations that are differentiated by the host tree from which the mistletoe is harvested. [11]
