Overview

Iscartrelvir is an investigational oral small‑molecule antiviral that acts as a noncovalent inhibitor of the SARS‑CoV‑2 main protease (3C-like protease, 3CLpro), thereby blocking viral polyprotein processing and replication. Structurally, it is a brominated isoquinolinecarboxamide derivative (C24H24BrN5O4) identified through structure-based design as a potent, selective 3CLpro inhibitor against SARS‑CoV‑2, including variants of concern.[10][12] Iscartrelvir is being developed as a direct-acting antiviral therapy for COVID‑19 and potentially other coronavirus infections.
