ISF402

ISF402 is an experimental oral small molecule developed by Dia-B, an Australian biotechnology company spun out of the International Diabetes Institute (now part of the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute). It was designed as an insulin sensitizer for the treatment of type 2 diabetes, with the primary goal of enhancing the body's response to insulin to lower blood glucose levels. Preclinical evaluations in animal models, including rats and rabbits, indicated potent glucose-lowering activity and a favorable safety profile with no observed toxicity. Although the compound was positioned for Phase 1 clinical trials around 2006, no further clinical development has been reported in public records, and the program is considered discontinued following the merger of its parent institute.
