Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Isifera Plus is a lidocaine-containing pharmaceutical solution developed by Isifer AB for use in preovulatory pertubation (tubal flushing) as a treatment for couples with unexplained infertility. The active ingredient, lidocaine, is a local anesthetic of the amide type that acts as a sodium channel blocker. Administered via pertubation prior to intrauterine insemination (IUI), Isifera Plus is designed to increase pregnancy rates, potentially through mechanical flushing of the fallopian tubes combined with the anti-inflammatory and membrane-stabilizing effects of lidocaine, which may inhibit sperm phagocytosis. The drug has been evaluated in Phase II clinical trials.
