Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Islatravir + lamivudine** is an investigational oral fixed-dose combination antiretroviral regimen for the treatment of HIV-1 infection. Islatravir is a nucleoside reverse transcriptase translocation inhibitor (NRTTI) with unique mechanisms: it blocks HIV-1 reverse transcriptase translocation on the primer:template, causing immediate or delayed chain termination and can induce mismatched primer formation. Lamivudine is a nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NRTI) that is incorporated into viral DNA by HIV reverse transcriptase and acts as a chain terminator, inhibiting further viral DNA synthesis. Both are small molecules acting intracellularly as active metabolites after phosphorylation.
