Overview

ISM-001 is a potential first-in-class humanized monoclonal antibody developed by IsomAb, a UK-based biotech spin-out from the University of Nottingham. It is designed to target the VEGF-A 165b isoform, which is implicated in inhibiting blood vessel formation in conditions like peripheral arterial disease (PAD), particularly in patients with metabolic syndrome and Type II diabetes. By targeting this isoform, ISM-001 aims to restore blood flow. The drug is currently in preclinical development, undergoing IND-enabling studies, with the goal of advancing towards first-in-human clinical trials. IsomAb retains full rights and decision-making autonomy over the program. The development is supported by collaborations with Pfizer Ignite for R&D capabilities and Catalent for process development and clinical trial supply manufacturing.
