Overview

**Ismidenon** is an orally bioavailable small molecule (C15H12N2O, CAS 887603-94-3) that acts primarily as an acetylcholine releasing agent to enhance cholinergic neurotransmission in the central nervous system, with potential to improve neurocognitive function in Alzheimer's disease by increasing acetylcholine release and decreasing amyloid beta peptide production. It was initially developed by Zenyaku Kogyo for memory disorders as a T-type calcium channel activator but is now advanced by AmyriAD Therapeutics as an adjunct to donepezil, enhancing cholinergic tone while minimizing peripheral side effects through a multi-modal approach to acetylcholine stimulation targeting neurodegeneration.[1][4][11]
