Overview

Ismigen is a sublingual immunostimulatory bacterial-lysate product containing polyvalent mechanical bacterial lysate derived from 13 strains of inactivated respiratory bacterial pathogens. The bacteria are heat-inactivated and mechanically lysed under high pressure to preserve particulate antigens; sublingual exposure is intended to stimulate mucosal and systemic innate and adaptive immune responses, including dendritic-cell activation and antigen-specific immune surveillance. Lallemand Pharma markets PMBL sublingual tablets under the Ismigen brand for prevention and treatment of recurrent respiratory tract infections, and Ismigen has also been studied in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and pediatric grass pollen-induced allergic rhinitis.
