Isobavachalcone is a naturally occurring prenylated chalcone isolated primarily from the seeds of *Psoralea corylifolia* (also known as *Cullen corylifolium*), widely used in traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine. It is a small molecule with reported antioxidative, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antifungal, neuroprotective, and anticancer properties[1][2][4][6]. Isobavachalcone exhibits mechanisms of action including membrane perturbation, inhibition of multidrug resistance protein ABCB1 (P-glycoprotein), induction of apoptosis via inhibition of Akt and Erk signaling pathways, and autophagy-mediated clearance of β-amyloid, as well as suppression of neuroinflammation in disease models such as Alzheimer’s disease[1][3][4]. Antibacterial activity is attributed to its ability to disrupt the integrity of the bacterial cell membrane[6][7][9].
