Overview

Isobromindione is a small molecule drug belonging to the class of indanediones, which are organic compounds containing an indane ring with two ketone groups. It has been used as a uricosuric agent, primarily for the treatment of gout by increasing uric acid excretion[2][4][6]. Its mechanism of action involves promoting renal excretion of uric acid, thereby lowering serum urate levels and reducing gout symptoms. The drug has reached at least clinical trial phase II but does not appear to be widely marketed or currently in use[6].
