Isodon inflexus extract is an ethanol or methanol extract prepared from the aerial parts of the plant Isodon inflexus, a member of the Lamiaceae family found in Korea, China, and Japan. It is traditionally used in folk medicine for treating gastrointestinal disorders, tumors, and inflammatory diseases. Modern research indicates the extract contains bioactive diterpenoids (including abietane and kaurane types as well as triterpenoids like ursolic acid), which exhibit pronounced anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities. Its mechanism involves inhibition of nuclear factor kappa-B (NF-κB) and mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling pathways, leading to reduced expression of inflammatory cytokines, nitric oxide (NO) production, and improved histological and behavioral markers in inflammatory and atopic dermatitis animal models[1][3][4][5][7].
