Isojol

Isojol is an oral antiviral and immunomodulatory drug developed and marketed by Jolly Healthcare, launched in 2021. Its active ingredient is inosine pranobex, which is a synthetic complex of inosine and a salt of 4-acetamidobenzoic acid with 1-dimethylamino-2-propanol in a 1:3 molar ratio. Isojol acts as a powerful immunostimulant that enhances the host's immune response by increasing T-lymphocyte proliferation and natural killer (NK) cell activity. While it does not directly target viral particles, it exerts indirect antiviral effects by inhibiting viral RNA synthesis and enhancing host cell mRNA translation. The drug is primarily indicated for the treatment of subacute sclerosing panencephalitis (SSPE), a rare measles complication, and has also been approved for the treatment of mild to moderate COVID-19 cases.
