Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Isosorbide dinitrate + sodium chloride is an approved injectable small molecule vasodilator formulation developed by Anqing Echo Biopharmaceutical. The active component, isosorbide dinitrate, is a nitrate compound that functions as a prodrug for nitric oxide (NO). Upon administration, it releases NO, which activates soluble guanylate cyclase (sGC), increasing the production of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP). This signaling cascade results in the relaxation of vascular smooth muscle, leading to systemic vasodilation of both venous and arterial vessels. This action reduces myocardial oxygen demand by decreasing cardiac preload and afterload. The drug is formulated in a sodium chloride solution for intravenous use and is indicated for the management of acute angina pectoris and congestive heart failure.
