Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a combination product containing isotretinoin, Mexoryl SX (ecamsule), and Mexoryl XL (drometrizole trisiloxane). Isotretinoin is a retinoid primarily used for the treatment of severe acne; it works by reducing sebaceous gland size and sebum production, inhibiting inflammation, and normalizing keratinization. Mexoryl SX (ecamsule) is an organic UVA filter that absorbs UVA rays to protect against photoaging and skin cancer[2][4]. Mexoryl XL (drometrizole trisiloxane) is an organic sun filter that provides broad-spectrum protection against both UVA and UVB rays[1]. When combined, Mexoryl SX and XL offer synergistic photoprotection with high photostability, making them effective in sunscreen formulations[1][2]. This combination would theoretically provide both acne treatment via isotretinoin and advanced sun protection via the two filters.
