Isovue

Isovue (iopamidol injection) is a nonionic, low-osmolar iodinated contrast agent developed and manufactured by Bracco Diagnostics. As a small molecule radiographic contrast medium, it is used to enhance the visualization of internal structures during diagnostic imaging procedures, including computed tomography (CT) and various forms of arteriography. The drug functions by increasing the attenuation of X-rays due to the presence of iodine atoms in the iopamidol molecule, thereby providing radiopaque contrast in blood vessels, organs, and tissues. It is FDA-approved for both intravenous and intra-arterial administration and has been extensively studied in specific patient populations, such as those with renal impairment undergoing imaging for conditions like liver disease or peripheral arterial disease.
