Overview

Isoxicam is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) of the oxicam class. It acts as a nonselective inhibitor of cyclooxygenase enzymes COX-1 and COX-2, thereby reducing the synthesis of prostaglandins involved in pain and inflammation. Isoxicam was developed for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and degenerative joint disease (osteoarthritis), with clinical studies indicating efficacy in reducing pain and inflammation associated with these conditions. It is an orally active agent with a long duration of action[6][7][10].
