Drug intelligence / Profile preview
EVA Q Fibre is a combination of ispaghula husk (a bulk-forming laxative) and lactitol monohydrate (an osmotic laxative). Developed by Medley, it is approved for the treatment of acute and chronic constipation, as well as for managing symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and reducing straining associated with hemorrhoids and anal fissures. Ispaghula husk absorbs water in the intestinal tract to increase stool bulk and softness, while lactitol monohydrate draws water into the colon to soften stools and stimulate peristalsis. Together, they exert an additive therapeutic effect to facilitate comfortable bowel movements.
