Drug intelligence / Profile preview
IST-01 is a small molecule drug candidate developed by Isterian Biotech. It acts as a highly selective inhibitor of transglutaminase 2 (TGM2), also known as protein-glutamine gamma-glutamyltransferase. TGM2 is implicated in the pathogenesis of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) due to its role in cross-linking proteins within the extracellular matrix, contributing to fibrotic tissue remodeling. Preclinical studies have shown that IST-01 demonstrates promising anti-fibrotic activity in mouse models of lung fibrosis, suggesting potential for disease modification in IPF and possibly other fibrotic respiratory diseases[1]. The drug is being developed for inhaled administration.
